Hornets break even MADISON — Wilson Memorial finished 2-2 Saturday at the Mountaineer Classic hosted by Madison County.
The Hornets won their first two matches, beating Rappahannock 59-18 and Group AA Charlottesville 51-28, before falling to Heritage-Leesburg 54-20 and host Madison 54-21.
"We wrestled well through the first two matches and lost our intensity the last two," Wilson coach Steve Geiman said. "We need to work on our ability to stay focused on each match as the day goes on. We had some improvements with our younger wrestlers."
Alex Traugutt at 189 was the lone Hornet to go unbeaten at 4-0. He had two pins and two decisions. Dusty Coffey at 285 and Cody Via at 140 each went 3-1. Via had three pins. Adam Miller at 119 went 2-2.
The Hornets (14-6) don't wrestle again until Jan. 20 in The News Leader Tournament at Buffalo Gap.
